2016 Desert

Eleven thousand, nine hundred and forty-nine kilometres from the east coast through the deserts of Central and Western Australia and home again,

IN A JEEP!

Our camp in the Simpson Desert was surrounded with a vast variety of wildflowers.

The following pages outline our 50 day road trip through the deserts of Central and Western Australia from June to August, 2016.

There were five vehicles in our party, two Toyotas, a Nissan, an Isuzu and our Jeep Grand Cherokee. Once we reached the Northern territory / Western Australian border, our trip mostly followed roads made by Len Beadell’s road construction crew in the 1950’s and 60’s. The homeward journey travelled over the Gunbarrel Highway then the French Line over the Simpson Desert.
